From my last show in April. These are Julie’s parents taking a look at one piece from a pair titled Late Spring, Early Fall. The two objects you can see embedded in this canvas are a small toy guitar from Japan (painted a brownish madder rose) and the inside of an 8-track from the Electric Light Orchestra (brown and blue). People described these two paintings as “bright,” which is cool, because otherwise, recent work has been dark.

No more exhibits for awhile. I want to spend some time working on Bubble Bobble, as well as secret side projects. Plus I just received the most amazing gift of old nintendo games and parts from Angelique, so I imagine that’ll turn into a series of big paintings. I’ll try to have them done by the end of the summer.

Here is another recent piece:

Also:
I am in the market for a nice but cheap keyboard and or/a preamp, so if you have one to recommend please let me know.

Friday, April 11
6–10PM
1932 S. Halsted Unit #100

Please join me for a group show as well as for the Chicago Arts District’s Second Friday artwalk. About 35ish galleries in the area all open up that evening for art things and it’s always fun. You just wander around with your friends and look at tons of art in a bunch of neat looking galleries in east Pilsen.

The work I’m putting up this Friday is kind of like the turntable painting but not really. I’m sorry I don’t have any pictures just yet. But they’re big with huge flashy splashes of color and have things embedded into the canvas like a copy of Ludacris on vinyl and a very small plastic guitar.

This month will be my last show for awhile. I’ve decided to leave oil painting in order to work on my mastery of the Lite Brite. Actually I just need a break from shows, but if anybody finds any juried things to submit for please let me know. Also, I want to try to do some video, so hopefully that works out.

Thanks. Look around and send me an email if you feel like it.
